Contaminated water for human consumption in Great Valencia and flooded indifference instances of public

I unequivocally, that no Carabobeño in their right mind would take his family for a weekend to swim in the Cabriales. However, all of us (in one form or another) have been bebiéndonos the Cabriales for about 3 years.

And in 2007, Environment Ministry officials in an attempt to lower the water level in Lake Valencia, decided to divert the waters of Cabriales it flows into the lake to nothing more nor less than the reservoir of water which are supplied all the inhabitants of Carabobo, Aragua Cojedes and part of the Pao-Cachince.

As predictable result, pollution levels in the reservoir have been increasing rapidly since then and the water quality has been declining in equal proportion. Several professors and researchers, including Jacqueline Rodriguez, Rafael Dautant, Yhilda Manuel Pérez Paredes and Rodriguez, have been reporting responsibly in recent months this undesirable situation, alerting us to the poor water quality and even, as indicated by the Ing.Jacqueline Rodriguez, the presence of Trihalomethanes in water at levels above those considered safe for human consumption.

Essentially, the trihalomethanes are volatile chemicals that can have serious health effects (including potentially carcinogenic) if present in water in high concentrations. Paradoxically, these triahalomentanos found in our water as a result of attempts Hidrocentro in treating the reservoir water, as these are formed from the interaction of the compounds normally used in the treatment process, organic matter present in water. That is, the increase in Pao-Cachinche pollution has become necessary to use higher amounts of these compounds water disinfectants and therefore TTHM levels have soared.

The first visible effects of this situation began to emerge in public for over 6 months, there have been many public complaints of citizens who have appeared in the media about the foul odor of the water, its turbidity, and how this has caused irritation in the skin, eyes and respiratory problems in residents of different parts of the city.

The most worrying of all this is that the problem of water pollution that we all consume, is a problem that grows over time. Every day that passes and the more water is poured on Cabriales Pao-Cachinche, the greater the degree of contamination, so the greater the need to treat it and therefore will be higher levels of Trihalomethanes in the water and risks to our health.

If I could be something more alarming than that described above, it is indifference or neglect of institutions public and political parties have shown to do nothing or very little about it. If these factors are more important priorities to these problems, citizens necessarily have to organize and take charge not only of the complaint, but constructive action, because no problem resolves itself and particularly in this, you must act now .
